Syvanne Avitzur

Syvanne Avitzur is a Toronto-based Board Member of the New Israel Fund of Canada (NIFC), a member of its New Generations Leadership Council, and a 2024–2025 Naomi Chazan Fellow. A former NIF volunteer in Jerusalem, she is committed to human rights, equity, and a shared society in Israel-Palestine, approaching the region with a compassionate, human-centered lens that challenges zero-sum narratives.

She previously served as Coordinator of J-Link, a global network of progressive Jewish organizations, where she led the largest international Jewish campaign for a hostage-ceasefire deal to date. Her research with the Nobel Peace Prize-nominated EcoPeace Middle East focused on water, agriculture, and interfaith solidarity amid settler violence, military occupation, and climate change in the Jordan Valley.

Syvanne currently works as a policy and government relations consultant in clean economic policy and international climate governance.
