Rabbi Dr. Laura Duhan-Kaplan
Rabbi Dr. Laura Duhan-Kaplan is Rabbi Emerita of Or Shalom Synagogue in Vancouver, Canada, and a faculty member at ALEPH: Alliance for Jewish Renewal Ordination Programs, where she teaches the core course in Histories of Israel and Palestine. She is also Director of Inter-Religious Studies and Professor of Jewish Studies at the Vancouver School of Theology. There, her work focuses on bringing diverse people together through interfaith and intercultural dialogue courses. She is an active volunteer at Vancouver Friends of Standing Together, the Charter for Compassion, Foundation for a Path Forward, and the Sierra Club of British Columbia. For her work bringing people together across difference, Rabbi Laura has been recognized with the American Academy of Religion Cannon Award for Teaching Excellence (2022), a Visioneers Lifetime Award for Peace and Community Well-Being (2021), and a nomination for a BC Multiculturalism Award (2021).
